Advice to my Grandchildren

1 minute read

on the occasion of my death   |   by Grandpa Joe

Life is simple: it’s about fathers and sons, mothers and daughters. You experience life from one side of the wall when you’re growing up; then from the other when you have kids of your own. That’s all there is to it and I challenge anyone over sixty to say otherwise.

It’s about the love you get and the love you give. How you treat others and how you treat yourself, in spite of all the things that happen to you, good and bad. Are you true to yourself? Do you lie, do you cheat? In life, in love, at work. Above all, ask yourself this simple question:

What have I learned, what can I teach?.

It may not seem that way now, but life is short. So seize the moment when it comes your way. And stay true to who you are, always.

Oh, and whatever you do, don’t become narcissistic assholes. Nobody likes those, trust me on that.
